You are 3 weeks old. It’s been 3 weeks since we became your mother and father. These past 3 weeks have been better than I imagined. Sure, we aren’t getting our full 8 hours of sleep every night and we constantly have to think about when you feed next if we go out of the house, but our love for you is so deep, it has swallowed us whole.
Let me introduce ourselves to you.
Before you were born, your daddy and I met in Louisiana. I was working as a psychiatric nurse and your daddy was in his psychiatric rotation for nursing clinicals. He was at my hospital for 6 weeks and I didn’t notice him until his last day when he played his guitar for our patients. Your daddy is refreshing, genuinely kind, and bold. He told me he didn’t want to play games that he wanted to be with me. Four months later, he proposed!
Shortly after getting married, we started our journey as husband and wife in Austin, TX. We love to travel, try new restaurants and watch live music. They say your first year of marriage is the hardest, but not only did we survive it, we thrived. We have our Lord to thank for that. We hope you choose to follow Jesus as we have chosen to. Our lives are forever changed because we did.
Our favorite place we have traveled to is Costa Rica. We spent our first week as husband and wife there, completely unplugged from the world. We met new people, went on adventurous excursions like zip lining by Arenal Volcano and feeding monkeys on our jungle river cruise, but most of all we explored a new land by ourselves.
We chose to live in Austin, TX because they have good eats, great outdoor living, and it is the live music capitol of the world. We loved every second of living there, but God called us to move.
We have lived in Raleigh, NC for almost 28 months now. Your daddy is graduating in May from Duke University to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. We are very proud of him. After graduation, we will move back to Austin, TX to be closer to your cousins (Leilana, Kaelyn, & Sam). They are all excited to meet you!
Right now, Lola Alice is helping us take care of you. She is cooking for us, cleaning, watches & feeds you while we nap. She loves listening to you coo and watching you smile.
Your daddy loves fatherhood. He comes home from a busy day of school and can’t wait to hold you. He even holds you while he studies for boards. He wants to spend as much time as he can when he can. You’ve already got him wrapped around your finger!
As for me, it’s still surreal that I’m a mother. It’s amazing, but can be exhausting. When I wake up from my nap, I love seeing your sweet face. You are everything that I dreamed of. I am honored to be your mother, little one.
We hope you know how much we all love you and how much the Lord loves you, too. Never forget that you will always be enough and never settle for anything less than you deserve.
Out of all our adventures, you are our greatest and best adventure.
